AN Appleton leisure centre is set to benefit from a make-over after planning permission was granted.
Proposals to refurbish outdoor spaces at Broomfields Leisure Centre were passed by Warrington Borough Council on Thursday, October 11.
The LiveWire facility in Broomfields Road, Appleton, offers a range of facilities including swimming, fitness and a sauna but some of these are ready for refurbishment.
Applicant James Birdsey, who works as the operations manager at LiveWire based at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub, said LiveWire proposes to install an artificial grass pitch, a refurbishment and extension including replacement floodlighting, fencing and entrance gates.
In a planning document the company said that the new fencing will be increased in height as a security measure around the artificial grass pitch.
There will also be clear and easy access for pedestrians and visitors as well as vehicular access for maintenance operations.
As a Community Interest Company, any profit generated by LiveWire is reinvested back into developing and improving facilities and services for communities like Appleton.
LiveWire is now the largest provider of leisure facilities within Warrington.
