WESTLEIGH Methodist Primary School has held a special service to thank those who helped it after a fire tore through its roof in March.

The blaze, which was believed to have been caused by an electrical fault in the solar panels of the roof, destroyed nearly half of the Westleigh Lane building.

On Friday, Reverend Paul Martin carried out a service which acknowledged the efforts made by the whole community including firefighters.

Chair of the school's governing body, Dawn Lancashire, said: "On behalf of the governors we would like to give an enormous thank you to all the staff, children, parents, community, the Methodist Church, and many others from different parts of the country, to the Acorn Trust team, fire fighters, Local Authority, and builders.

"The support, offers of help and the speed with which the children were back in education after the devastating fire was amazing - from temporary classrooms to stimulating new environments.

"Westleigh Methodist Primary School looks fantastic. Thank you everyone."
