A RAINFORD resident is holding a talk today, Thursday, October 18, telling the story of her Polish mother’s hardships under the Soviet regime.
Yvonne Taylor will be telling others of her mum Genowefa, who following a childhood on a small farm in Poland, was deported from Soviet-occupied Poland to the wastes of Siberia at the age of 15.
After three years of hard labour she faced a long journey to Persia to join the Polish Free Army before settling in Lancashire at the end of the war.
Her inspiring talk will be held in the Lecture Theatre at the United Reformed Church on King Street from 7.30pm.
This event has free entry for National Trust St Helens members and volunteers but non-members will be asked for a £2 donation.
