THE Argos store at the Hardshaw centre is to close its doors in the new year.
The shop has been subject to speculation over its future.
When asked by the Star, a spokeswoman for Argos confirmed the shop would be closing in 2019 and said staff are being offered the chance to be transferred to other Argos shops in the area.
She said: "We can confirm the Argos store in the Hardshaw Centre will be closing in the New Year. All colleagues are being offered the opportunity to redeploy to our nearby stores in Widnes and Ravenhead Retail Rark".
