A WOMAN was taken to hospital with what are believed to be "serious injuries" after a car was in collision with two people yesterday evening (October 9).
A Ford Fiesta hit a woman in her 60s and man in his 50s who were on a pedestrian crossing on Clipsley Lane, Haydock.
Police say the woman is believed to have sustained serious leg injuries and was taken to Aintree Hospital for treatment.
The man was also taken to hospital with what are believed to be less serious injuries.
A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "We received a report at 5.40pm of a road traffic collision involving a car and pedestrians.
"It is believed to be a Ford Fiesta.
"Both people have been taken to hospital for treatment. The man was described as walking wounded with minor injuries and the woman has what are described as serious leg injuries."
The driver stopped at the scene and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident, police added.
