RESIDENTS in Leigh will be able to have their say on the future on Monday.

An event, which is part of Wigan Council's The Big Listening Project, will take place at The Turnpike Centre from 5.30pm to 8pm.

Part of the the local authority's the Deal for the Future, the project aims to create a vision together for its The Deal 2030 scheme.

The event will also provide an update on both of the £5m Believe in Leigh and Action for Leigh schemes.

Wigan Council leader Cllr David Molyneux said: “The Deal has revolutionised the way we work with our communities and partners and through building closer ties with our partners we have fared better than many other councils despite being so heavily affected by government cuts.

“We now want to draw up plans for the next 10 years for Wigan Borough and want it to be a collaborative vision that works for everyone.

"We know Leigh residents are passionate about their community and we have been listening to what you have been telling us which has led to action between us and our partners to make a difference.

"Come along and tell us what you think can continue this important work.”

For people who cannot attend the event there will be more chances for people to have their say with a big green sofa due to tour the borough.
