TOWN centre-based Mixed Martial Arts gym Hamma is celebrating more success after picking up a raft of medals in the European Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu championships.

Between them, youngsters from the gym, coached by Conah Martin, collected an astonishing 46 medals. This included 18 gold medals; 15 silvers and 13 bronzes.

This meant the gym came third out of all competitors across the continent, which saw Hamma pick up the Bronze European .

Proud head instructor at Hamma, Sean Martin, said: "Our little gym in St Helens came third in Europe out of all the top gyms on the continent!

"We beat gyms from Sweden; Norway; Germany; France; Ireland and Belgium."

Coach Conor added: "We are still in our first year and we are already taking over, I'm proud of the team, but it really was the kids that have done all of the hard work.

"Not just over the weekend but months before in the gym. I can’t wait for the next one with the big family. So proud, thanks to everyone who helped."
