POLICE are hunting for men who fled on foot after they abandoned a car which had crashed into a parked vehicle.

A Renault Scenic collided with a white Mercedes, with the crash also causing damage to a black Vauxhall Insignia on Sutton Heath Road.

Both cars were empty at the time of the crash which took place at around 7.15am on Saturday (September 29).

Police say between two and three men were reported to have fled from the Renault on foot after the crash.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "We got a call at 7.27am on September 29 of a Renault Scenic being in collision with a stationary vehicle and then between two and three men have been reported to have made off from the scene on foot.

"We believe one has gone in the direction of Elephant Lane and another in the direction of Elton Head Road.

"There was no one in the stationary vehicles and no injuries caused.

"No arrests have yet been made."

Owner of the Mercedes, Ashleigh Moore, 25, who had been staying at her boyfriend's house, says the car has been written off due to the damage.

She said: "I have had to claim off my own insurance and I battle a rare illness daily as I have Adult-onset Still's disease which causes rheumatoid arthritis Pericarditis and a selection of other things!

"I am now in hospital having an attack caused through the trauma of all this week's drama. Someone tried stealing my dogs last week and I am stressed now as when I get home from hospital I will have no courtesy car and no money. It’s a disgrace."
