WEST Park councillor Marlene Quinn has been shortlisted for the Health and Care award at the 2018 Councillor Achievement Awards.

The annual Awards are the only national ceremony to honour the hard work of councillors from across the country that often goes unrecognised.

Councillor Marlene Quinn said: “It’s obviously very pleasing to be nominated for this prestigious award but the main reward, of course, is the satisfaction of knowing that I am contributing to the ground-breaking working that’s going on here to improve the lives of people in St Helens.

“As a council, the health and wellbeing of all our residents is of paramount importance – and as cabinet lead for adult social care, I will do everything in my power to ensure that we best meet the needs of local people.”

With nearly 200 nominations, competition was extremely tight this year and some of the nine categories up for grabs include Finance and Transformation, Leader of the Year and Community Champion.

She was nominated by leader of the council Cllr Derek Long.
