A FESTIVAL which showcases filmmaking talent is returning on Saturday, October 20.

The fifth annual Leigh Short Film Festival will take place at The Turnpike Centre from 7pm on the night.

It is organised by a collaboration of creative groups including Leigh Film Society, which won two Cinema for All awards for Best Film Programming and Best Film Discovery in September.

The society, which was awarded the title of Best Film Society last year, was presented with the latter accolade for the second year in a row in recognition of its commitment to providing education to film students.

This year there will be 12 students on work placements at the short film festival and the chosen charity is The Brick Project, which offers services to those who are homeless, in poverty or facing debt.

Tickets are priced at £5 for adults and £3 for children.

The event is only suitable for those aged over 16.
