A GRANDMOTHER has turned her life around after losing more than seven stone.

Anne Wright, from Leigh, saw a picture of herself next to her friend and vowed to take action. She joined Slimming World at St Joseph's Hall in Leigh in March 2016 but nearly quit after the weekly walk from the bus station to the venue was too painful.

Bar manager Anne, 62, said: “I often had to sit down on the police station steps to catch my breath halfway to the class.

"I couldn’t even walk 500 yards without being out of breath and in pain.

"It was so upsetting how hard I found it just to collect my grandson from school.

"It was my friend Bev who suggested joining Slimming World. My first though was 'no way, I don’t do diets', but when Bev explained what I could eat I thought I would give it a go.”

Before joining Anne suffered from spinal stenosis, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and prediabetes.

She struggled with tasks such as cleaning the bar which took up to three hours rather than the expected time of less than an hour.

She now takes her grandson on long bike rides and has taken part in two Race for Life 5K events for Cancer Research.

Anne, who no longer needs medicine for cholesterol and is not at risk of diabetes has also reserved praised for her slimming group and her consultant Marion Doxey.
