FIREFIGHTERS rescued a man from a nightclub fire after he had taken a fall on Friday afternoon.
Three fire engines were sent to Railway Road in Leigh at around 12.50pm where the roof of Est 1899 was well alight.
Ambulance were also called to the scene after a man had taken a fall, initially believed to have been around 15 feet.
Fire crews managed to rescue the man at the scene who has since been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A spokeswoman from North West Ambulance said: “We took a patient to the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary.
”The patient had fallen and got pains in different places including the neck and chest due to the fall.”
An aerial appliance unit was also called as crews battled the flames with the aid of a 13.5m platform ladder.
Five breathing apparatus and three hose reels were used to extinguish the blaze.
It was put out at around 3.20pm with firefighters preventing the flames spreading to neighbouring buildings.
