IT'S all happening in Prescot! As the historic town prepares for the Shakespeare North Playhouse a plethora of new food venues have thrown open their doors on the historic streets offering everything from bistro dining to the best of street food.

Newly opened Kingsmen street food has opened on Market Place, serving food and drink from around the world from burgers to Mexican food, while a bistro tea room Down in Albion is due to open on Atherton Street following the success of their other business The Albion Bakehouse on Leyland Street and a successful crowdfunding campaign that raised £30,000 in one month.

Another exciting opening is the The Watch Factory on Albany Road, which will serve breakfast, afternoon tea and range of food and drinks.

Lastly, as well as exciting crowdfunded venue Pinion set to open its doors, a bar and restaurant will be bringing the flavour of Ibiza to Prescot when Urbano Chiringuito opens it's doors with a chilled out Balearic vibe with MATE Creative Bistro will bring a taste of Italy to town as part of the transformation of Market Place.

Both are due to open in January 2019.

Cllr Tony Brennan, Knowsley Council’s cabinet member for regeneration and economic development said: “The council’s ambitious plans to regenerate Prescot are currently happening on the ground.

"We are building on the town’s unique and rich heritage to transform it into a thriving attractive destination with new cultural and leisure facilities, a comprehensive independent led retail offer and a successful evening economy.

“I am delighted that there are so many new restaurants opening in Prescot. There are already great places to eat and drink in the town and these new venues will enhance this offer further and help to attract even more people into Prescot, making it a place that people want to visit and spend time.

"The new restaurants are opening in advance of the construction of the Shakespeare North Playhouse and they are looking to capitalise on the economic gain this regeneration will create across the town.

"In the short term, the physical transformation of the place is being led by the new stunning public realm development at Market Place, it really is an exciting time for Prescot.”
