REGARDING the debate on smacking after the calls for a ban to protect children’s mental health.


I think the appalling behaviour in younger generations is down to the examples they are set from each and every person around them (specifically parents).


I have two young children and they are loud and cheeky, just as any youngster should be.


However not once have I ever smacked them and yet they both have a strong concept of right vs wrong.


The problem with lack of discipline and respect tends to creep in more so if children are left feral with no one correcting their behaviour at an age where children are able to be influenced and directed more easily.


There are surely better ways, however I do appreciate that not one method works for all – everyone is different and all that...
