A MAN has been jailed for slashing a 22-year-old woman’s face with a knife,  leaving her needing plastic surgery. 

Reece Andrew Collins, 27, of Ormside Grove, Sutton was given a two-year sentence at Liverpool Crown Court.

Collins slashed his victim to the face with a knife in an attack on Ormside Grove.

The assault caused the woman “significant physical injuries” and emotional suffering.

He was convicted of wounding with intent and received a sentence of two years.

Detective Inspector Sue Hinds said: “Not only did Collins cause significant physical injuries to this young woman, she has undoubtedly suffered emotionally as well.

“No one in our community should ever feel at risk of dangerous individuals like Collins and we will continue to work with partners including Victim Care Merseyside to bring people committing such violent crimes are brought before the courts and dealt with appropriately.

“Safeguarding this young woman remains our priority and we continue to urge anyone that feels they have also been a victim of a similar crime, to come forward and we’ll do all we can to support you.”
