A MAN in his 20s remains in hospital after sustaining head injuries in a crash involving a suspected stolen motorbike last month.

The motorbike crashed into a wall on Greenwood Court, close to Lindale Drive in Clock Face, at around 5.35pm on Sunday, August 19.

A 26-year-old man, who was the rider, was left fighting for life after the collision with what were described as "critical head injuries".

It is believed two other men moved the bike to another location, and seemingly abandoned the critically injured man.

Police received a call about the crash, which involved a suspected stolen Yamaha Fazer motorbike which had reportedly collided with a wall.

It is believed that the bike was moved by unknown men to nearby Burnage Avenue and was recovered.

A police spokesman said that the injured man remains in hospital but that his condition is now being described as "serious".

After the crash, Chief Inspector Gary O'Rourke said: "We are keen to hear from any witnesses to this incident or anyone who saw this bike in the area during the afternoon on Sunday.

"It would appear that two men moved the bike following the incident, potentially abandoning a seriously injured person in order to hinder our investigation.

"The rider has sustained critical injuries and we welcome any information, including home CCTV or dashcam footage, which may assist."
