IN reply to the letter in the Star that asked ‘Why have two major junction improvements at same time?’
Not only are there road closures and diversions in place at Elton Head Road due to the major long term roadworks taking place, but one of the routes used for the diversions was subject to temporary traffic lights the other day.
Sherdley Road had further work underway and the temporary traffic lights in place were a cause of significant delays for traffic in both directions on both Sherdley Road and Elephant Lane.
It’s going to be a long five months for those road users who regularly use this route. How many times has Windle Island been subject to disruption over the past 15 years?
It seems as though there is a constant problem with peak time traffic at this junction.
