A MAN accused of the murders of John Kinsella and Paul Massey is set to face trial in November,

Mark Fellows, 38, of Sandy Lane West, Orford, Warrington appeared via video link at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday.

He and Simon Boyle, from Heywood, 35, deny murdering Mr Kinsella on a path near the M62 in Rainhill in May and attempting to murder his partner Wendy Owen.

Mr Kinsella was shot dead by a man on a bike while walking his dog near a slip-road to a Liverpool-bound stretch of the motorway.

His partner Ms Owen was shot as she fled the scene.

Both Boyle and Fellows have been charged with two counts of murder and one of attempted murder.

The court heard they each wish to apply for the case against them, relating to the murder of Paul Massey, to be dismissed.

A new hearing is set for October and a provisional trial date has been listed for November.

Mr Massey, a well-known figure in Salford, was shot outside his home in Clifton in July 2015.

He was friends with Mr Kinsella.

The men’s deaths have been investigated by detectives from Merseyside and Greater Manchester Police forces.
