FOSSILS and a model of how Kings Moss looked when humans first arrived are among the exhibits to be seen at this year's Rainford Heritage Open Day.
The sixth version of the event, to be held on Sunday, September 9, will be the biggest version yet with visitors to include the mayor and mayoress and St Helens North MP Conor McGinn.
For the event, the Rainford Heritage Society has created a 'timeline' in the main hall, starting at the beginning with local fossils, moving on to the Ice Age, followed by a model of how Kings Moss might have been when the first humans arrived.
It continues through the Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman Period, Anglo-Saxons and Vikings.
For the Middle Ages there are models of Cruck Beam farmhouses, with exhibits continuing up to 2018.
A huge model of Rainford in the 1800s will be in the reception.
There will be a family corner where children can draw or colour species of dinosaurs that roamed England and a Brownies Tuck Shop and Reds Cafe.
Upstairs, the council chamber will be open with further displays and the day will end with a medley of songs performed at 3.15pm by the renowned Rainford Ladies Choir.
If anyone has any items they think we may wish to put on display, especially from the earlier periods, please call Ray Waring on 01744 885547 or email rayw91141@gmail.com
