A MAN has been detained under the Mental Health Act after police attended reports of someone on the tracks at St Helens Central railway station.
Transport police attended the Shaw Street station yesterday evening (Sunday) shortly before 6pm following a report of a concern for welfare of a man who was on the train line.
A man has been sectioned under the Mental Health Act following the incident.
A British Transport Police spokeswoman said: "We were called to St Helens Central Railway station shortly before 5.45pm on Sunday, August 5 following a concern for the welfare of a person on the tracks.
"Officers attended along with colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service and a man was detained under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act."
