AROUND 10,000 people turned up Newton Town Show on Saturday to enjoy monster trucks fun, helicopter rides and a classic car show in the summer sunshine.

The free annual event was organised by Newton and Earlestown Community Group and included attractions for all ages, various stalls, a classic tug o war and an arts and crafts competition.

Newton ward councillor and chairman of the Town Show organising committee, Seve Gomez-Aspron, said: “The weather and the attractions were both fantastic on the day and that saw close to 10,000 people come down to Mesnes Park and enjoy the Town Show

"I have to thank those businesses that sponsored the event like THINK! estate agenda, Taylor Wimpey at Whittle Chase, Clear Tax Solutions, Shakey Js and Costco plus loads of others.

"The Park Ranger Service are invaluable all year round, but we couldn’t put on the show without their help and thanks to St Helens Borough Council for their support.

"Thanks to Newton Rugby Club and all those on the day who helped steward the event.

"And finally, I’m proud to be part of a team of less than ten volunteers who pull the biggest free event in the borough out of the bag every year.

"Can’t wait to see what 2019 brings.”
