RESIDENTS have one week left to nominate their local heroes for their chance to have a bus named after them in celebration of the St Helens 150th anniversary.
The competition, which closes on Tuesday, July 31, is asking people to nominate their local hero, whether it’s a youth group supervisor supporting children in the community, volunteers at a local charity shop or a hardworking mum, Arriva wants to hear all about it.
The lucky winner will have a bus named after them on a popular bus route in St Helens, as well as receiving an annual bus pass worth £615 and £250 worth of Love to Shop vouchers.
Lisa Pearson from Arriva North West and Wales said: "With so many amazing people to come out of St.Helens over the last 150 years, from Johnny Vegas to Thomas Beecham and Chris Foy, we couldn’t think of a better way to show our appreciation for the people who continue to make St.Helens a great place today.”
Entrants must submit up to 150 words via the Arriva website, explaining why this person is their local hero.
A panel of Arriva judges will then assess all applications and crown the winner in a bus naming ceremony that will take place in August.
