A MAN has been arrested after a cannabis farm and high-powered motorbikes were uncovered during police raids.

Officers from the St Helens Local Police Team executed a search warrant at a house on Langley Avenue, Newton-le-Willows on Thursday and discovered a small cannabis farm.

They also completed a search warrant at a separate garage in Bradlegh Road, which was believed to be linked to the address.

Inside the garage the officers recovered two stolen high-powered motor bikes.

A 27-year-old man from St Helens was arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis. He has been released under investigation.

Community Inspector Neil Birkett said: “I hope this arrest and seizures reassures the public that Merseyside Police is working hard to tackle criminals intent on stealing, and is cracking down on those who grow cannabis at the heart of our communities, a trade often fuelled by violent crime.

"I would appeal to people across Merseyside to call us if they know where stolen bikes are being stored or have information about the people who are using them.”
