PARR brass band scooped seven first-place prizes at the Whit Friday March competition - as well as being crowned the 4th section's champions.

Bands from all over the globe took part in the events across Tameside and Saddleworth, entertaining the applauding crowds with their road march.

Parr brass band chose to play an arrangement of Roy Orbison's hit Penny Arcade as their road march and then opted to enter the fourth section of the Tameside competition, performing William Rimmer's march Irresistible at seven venues across the area.

They are now the Tameside 4th Section Champions.

The Parr Band rehearse at Parr Community Fire Station on Monday and Wednesday evenings, and also run a training academy for less experienced players who wish to train up for a place in the main band.

Parr Academy is held on Thursday evenings.
