POLICE have made a witness appeal after a woman and two children were knocked down by a car.

Officers confirmed emergency services were called to the junction of Chapel Street and Piele Road, Haydock on Friday evening.

The woman and two boys were knocked down by a Renault.

The car stopped at the scene and the driver has been helping police with their investigation.

A police statement read: "Emergency services were called to Chapel Street and Piele Road at around 5.15pm on Friday, June 8 to reports of a road traffic collision.

"Three people, a woman and two boys (pedestrians) were in collision with a Renault. The pedestrians were taken to hospital where they received treatment for broken bones, not thought to be life threatening."

The driver of the car stopped at the scene to assist police with enquiries.
