POLICE are remaining tight-lipped about the reason for their presence in Thatto Heath this morning – but say it forms part of an "ongoing investigation".
Concerned residents have contacted the Star after officers were stationed in the Sunbury Street and Howard Street areas this morning.
They reported that an extensive cordon was in place and that detectives had been carrying out door to door enquiries.
Neighbours who spoke to the Star suggested the police presence could be related to an abandoned car.
However, that has not been confirmed by police.
Police would not disclose the nature of their presence due to "investigative reasons". They said it was not due to an ongoing incident and instead related to an investigation.
A spokesman said: "We are currently in the area making enquiries as part of an ongoing investigation."
