POLICE found a milk float abandoned in a road in Garswood this morning.

Officers say the vehicle was left on Rectory Road at around 4am.

Police had believed an attempt had been made to take it without the owner's consent.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman added: "At around 6am a member of the public spotted it in the middle of the road at the junction of Downhall Green Road, it is possible that the handbrake had been tampered with and it had rolled.

"It has since been recovered by the milk company. There was no sign of forced entry or damage to the milk float."
