A DANGEROUS motorcyclist was spotted by police speeding through Newton-Le-Willows early this morning.
Officers followed the motorbike as it travelled along Crow Lane West at 5am.
A St Helens police spokesman said: “The bike was moving at high speed and with the passenger on the bike not wearing any protective head gear.
“Officers followed the bike until it came to a natural stop where both rider and passenger were detained.”
The bike was found to be uninsured and the rider was found to be over twice the drink drive limit.
The police spokesman added: “He also tested positive for cocaine and cannabis.
“The bike has been removed and the rider arrested.
“The passenger has been summoned to court for failing to wear protective head gear.
"This is why we police the road, a disaster waiting to happen.”
