A MAN who helps keep more than 1,400 computers and internet servers ticking over is celebrating three decades at a school.

Howard Jones, an ICT technician at Rainhill High School has spent 30 years at the learning establishment, which makes him its longest serving support staff member.

Howard, who started working at the school back in 1988, recalls a completely different IT provision at Rainhill in comparison to today.

He explains: “It does not seem that long ago that I was repairing electric typewriters or upgrading the BBC master suite.

“Compare that with 2018, where we have more than 1,400 computers and servers across the site, allowing seamless access to electronic, ICT and internet resources.”

Howard adds: “I want to thank my many friends and colleagues at Rainhill High School for their friendship, support and their professionalism.

“I have found that no matter which role you undertake within Rainhill High community, you are respected and valued equally within the school family.”

Principal John Pout, praised Mr Jones’ service to the school adding: “Howard is excellent at his job. His technical knowledge is second to no one.

“He is meticulous in his approach, he works hard and has not had a day off sick. His contribution to the school has been immense, yet it is typical of him that he does not seek the limelight."

The school presented Howard with a gift and commemorative plaque to mark the occasion and wished him continued success.
