FIRE crews had to cut off a car door to enable a casualty to be treated by paramedics after a two-vehicle crash on the East Lancs at Haydock on Saturday.

The Fire and Rescue Service were called a 3.30pm following the collision close to junction 23 of the M6 motorway.

Two fire engines and the Search and Rescue Team attended the incident.

Crews used hydraulic cutting gear to remove the door of one of the vehicles to give paramedics access to a casualty.

They were then taken to hospital for further checks.

Firefighters remained at the incident for around one hour and 35 minutes.
