SEVEN youths have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder, assaulting a constable and criminal damage to a police motor vehicle.

Merseyside Police has confirmed that officers were called to a property in St Helens on Saturday, following reports of a disturbance.

Officers attended an address on Billinge Crescent, Blackbrook at 7.55pm following reports a group of youths were causing a nuisance at an address.

Initial officers who attended the scene were confronted by a large group and assaulted suffering bruising. Damage was caused to a police vehicle.

Seven youths – six males and one female - aged between 14 and 18 were arrested.

The 14 year-old female has been referred to the youth offending team. A 14 year-old male has been charged with a public order offence.

The remaining five have been released without charge.
