TRAINS from St Helens to Liverpool will run tomorrow, Monday, network bosses have confirmed.
Network Rail announced today, Sunday, that Liverpool Lime Street railway station would be closed for two days for emergency repairs to take place on damaged overhead cables.
Severe corrosion was found on the cables which made it unsafe for trains to pass underneath them and led to station bosses cancelling services.
But works are due to be completed overnight in time for trains to run on Monday morning.
However, passengers are asked to check with their train operator if services are running with a strike by Northern Rail workers set to take place.
A Network Rail spokesperson said: "We have worked as quickly as possible to carry out repair work to the structure today and have a schedule of work to complete overnight that will allow us to reopen Liverpool Lime Street tomorrow morning.
"The lines will remain closed for the rest of today.
"I would like to apologise for the disruption caused and thank passengers for their patience while we carry out the repairs."
