DO you have a sweet tooth? You are in for a treat...

A branch of Kaspa's Desserts is set to open its doors on Bridge Street, serving a range of indulgent desserts - from ice creams and waffles to cakes, smoothies and milkshakes.

The national chain will occupy vacant premises formerly accommodating the British Heart Foundation's Furniture and Electrical store - and around 10 full-time and 20 part-time jobs will be created.

In August 2016, permission to change the retail unit into a food or drink establishment was granted, and a further application for shop front and signage alterations is currently under consideration by town planners.

Kaspa’s describes itself as a 'chain of exciting new dessert houses that offer the world’s favourite hot and cold desserts under one roof'.

The menu offers a range of sundaes, costing from £5.95, including a birthday extravaganza platter at £27.95, which consists of 15 scoops of ice cream on a bed of waffles, fresh whipped cream, topped with a variety of syrups, wafers and sprinkles.

Traditional desserts such as sticky toffee pudding, apple crumble and carrot cake are also served, alongside 'bubblemania' shakes and slushes in flavours such as strawberry and mint, mojito and lychee.

The milkshake menu includes power protein shakes, soda floats and VIP shakes in exotic flavours including cherry skittles, pistachio and coconut, and peanut butter jam.

Town centre manager Gary Maddock said: "The announcement of Kaspa's Desserts is great investment news for the town centre and shows a new business confidence in the town centre.

"We've been working with businesses, landowners and developers to discuss our plans for the future of St Helens town centre and together, our aim is to attract new investment, unlock new development and bring about the change that St Helens needs."

The 425 square foot store plans to open from 11am to 11pm every day.
