A PET owner has been hit with a fine of more than £3,600 after failing an appeal against a conviction for a dog fouling offence.
Paul Glasser, of Kentmere Avenue, was ordered to pay more than £700 in costs after being found guilty at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates’ Court of failing to remove his dog’s faeces in August.
He then refused to provide his details to a St Helens Council Dog Welfare and Enforcement Officer, after allowing his pet to foul in a skate park adjacent to Kentmere Avenue.
The 52-year-old then appealed against the conviction but failed to attend court on five occasions to support this.
The case was heard at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates’ Court, yesterday Thursday, May 25, where a judge noted that Glassar had demonstrated "incredible arrogance" and dismissed his appeal.
He was ordered to pay his previous fine of £700 and an additional £2,904.56 in costs for the appeal hearings.
