A CARE home has been rated as requiring improvement in a watchdog's report, which also listed the facility leadership as inadequate.

Care Quality Commission inspectors stated the Grace Court Care Centre on Prescot Road needs to strengthen in four of the five areas of care.

Leadership is deemed inadequate.

The report, which was published on March 2 following unannounced visits in December, took place at the care home which caters for elderly people including those with dementia, mental health conditions and physical disabilities.

The report said: "There was no registered manager in post.

Two managers had been employed at the service since its opening in April 2016.

"The quality of some of the records was poor. Records were unsigned and undated and were difficult to interpret."

The care home was also found to have no effective systems in place to ensure that specialist equipment in use by people was being monitored to ensure that it remained safe.

There was also a failure to ensure that the staff on duty were suitable to ensure that people received the care and support they required in a timely manner.

It added: "It was also found no effective systems were in place to monitor the responses to complaints made about the service.

"Family members who had raised concerns did not always receive a response and action had not been taken to resolve their complaints.

"There were no effective systems in place for the monitoring of people's care records and they failed to contain sufficient details of the care and support people were offered and received."

A spokesman for Grace Court Care Centre, said: "Since the visit in December Key Healthcare, (who runs the Home) have dealt with the reports findings, despite it being published this month.

"Grace Court is now fully compliant and a new Home Manager is in-situ."
