A HELICOPTER tour and a display from the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will be among the attractions at this summer's Newton Town Show.

The annual event will be held on Saturday, August 6 at Mesnes Park, from 11am to 5pm.

This year will see visitors have the chance to go for a helicopter tour of Newton-le-Willows and the surrounding areas.

There will also be an artillery display on show and a fly past from the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial flight including a spitfire, hurricane and Lancaster bomber. A motorcycle display team and other surprises will add to the fun.

People can currently buy raffle tickets to win a free helicopter ride for themselves and two others.

Also this year's event will see a free programme given to every school pupil in Newton-le-Willows.

There is also a competition underway for the primary schools to enter a competition to design a front cover for the programme.

Cllr Seve Gomez-Aspron, chair of the town show organising committee, said: "I and the rest of the committee are working hard to make the show bigger and better each year and we thank the local businesses that sponsor the show each year.

"The public support has been massive each year, and we hope that this can grow in 2016. Just don't forget to bring the sun with you."
