I WOULD just like to say what a sterling service I received from the NHS recently.
On the Wednesday night I found a lump in my left breast, having had breast cancer 12 years ago, I thought it necessary to make an appointment at my GP surgery urgently.
The next day I got an appointment for Friday not at my usual surgery at Windermere but at the other surgery in town.
The doctor their immediately gave me a reference letter and telephone number for the Burney Breast Clinic at St Helens Hospital.
On my return late Friday afternoon from the doctor's surgery I phone the number and was told I would get an appointment at the breast clinic within a fortnight.
The following Tuesday I received an appointment for Friday 13th of all days for the Burney Breast Clinic.
I met my appointment and was first seen by a surgeon who after examination agreed there was a lump and said to wait in the waiting room for a mammogram. Ten minutes later that had been done and again I was told to wait in the waiting room.
Ten minutes later I was ushered into a scanning room where a breast scan took place and I wa s told there and then that there was no sign of cancer just old scar tissue.
May I say what a brilliant service I received from Dr Gupta's practice to the breast clinic in 10 days from finding the lump to the good outcome thank you all of you.
