WOMEN are being encouraged to get active by taking up golf.
A free two-hour golfing taster session is being held this June at Grange Park.
Girls as young as five can join the club and women from all walks of life are welcome, with a new membership package meaning beginners will receive support in developing their game.
Anne Morris, a member of Grange Park Golf Club, said: “Golf is a great game for women and girls. It’s sociable and friendly with lots of health benefits. “You can start playing at any age, and carry on for life. You are outside, burning off calories with your friends.”
She added: “Most golf courses are in lovely surroundings… and you can always have coffee and cake afterwards. In fact, for many, the ‘après golf’ really is the icing on the cake!”
As this year is Grange Park’s 125th anniversary, a membership package for novices called ‘125 Membership’ is being introduced.
The taster is at the club in Prescot Road, Toll Bar, on Sunday, June 19, from 11am to 1pm. The dress code is smart casual sportswear with trainers or similar footwear, and all equipment is provided.
To reserve a free place, call Alison or Denise on 01744 26318 or email secretary@grangeparkgolfclub.co.uk.
