KNOWSLEY Safari Park is offering the opportunity for two youngsters to earn a place on a Learning and Delivery course during February half term.

One candidate will join the Knowsley Academy while the other will become a Junior Ranger. To be in with a chance of earning a place budding rangers must write up to 200 words explaining why they deserve a place by February 9.

The Junior Rangers is a three day club for children aged between 11 and 14 and the Knowsley Academy is a five day club for 15 to 18 year olds. Both give the chance to go behind the scenes at the park and help animal lovers explore more about the natural world.

There is also the opportunity to learn more about conservation work and what it takes to work somewhere like Knowsley.

Staff at the park are still celebrating the recent birth of a white rhino, the 11th to be born at the venue in the last decade.

John Moss, Rhino Keeper at Knowsley Safari, says: “We’ve been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the calf for 16 months - the average gestation period of a rhino. We’re really enjoying monitoring her as she explores and interacts with the new surroundings, she’s already so mischievous as she runs around her mum, copying her mannerisms.”

Visitors will be able to see the new addition in the Spring.

Knowsley Safari Park is running half price deals online between February 13 and 21.
