ONCE again there are plenty of local history events coming up over the next few weeks.
The Rainhill Civic Society will meet at the Millennium Centre in the town centre at 7.30pm on Tuesday, January 26. Pauline Hurst will be speaking about the Beecham family.
One hundred years of schooling in Sutton will be the topic of the Queens Park Local History Group which will meet at the Sprayhurst Club on Boundary Road on Monday, February 8 at 7pm. Guest speakers will be Marion White and Sid Saunders.
Derek Houghton will be presenting his film of local celebrations and the Great Locomotive Cavalcade of 1980 at the next meeting of Rainhill Railway and Heritage Society. It will be held at Rainhill Village Hall on Dane Court from 7.30pm on Monday, February 8.
