THREE top folk musicians will come together on stage at The Citadel, in Waterloo Street on Friday (March 6).
Mike McGoldrick, John McCusker and John Doyle – all members of the acclaimed BBC transatlantic sessions – are taking their show on a tour of Europe.
A spokesperson for The Citadel said: “This is a unique opportunity to see three world-class musicians perform together.”
Master of flutes, whistles and Uilleann pipes, Mike – who was BBC Radio Two’s folk musician of the year in 2006 – is member of Scottish folk group Capercaillie.
John McCusker was also part of the band that toured with Bob Dylan and Mark Knopfler. Joining the Battlefield band at 17, John spent 11 years touring the world with the now legendary folk outfit.
John has manned the controls for top folk chanteuses Eddi Reader, Heidi Talbot, Eliza Carthy, Linda
Thompson and Kate Rusby. He will celebrate 25 years as a professional musician this year, publishing a book of his compositions and releasing a solo record.
Guitarist John Doyle, now living in the United States, was recently musical director for Joan Baez and toured with her for two years. One half of the duo Liz Carroll and John Doyle, he is also a founding member of the internationally acclaimed Irish group Solas.
Tickets for the concert, at The Citadel in Waterloo Street, cost £20. For details or to book, call 735436. or visit citadel.org.uk
