MORE than 150 Santas are expected to put on their trainers and run through the town centre on Saturday.

The Steve Prescott Foundation, Willowbrook Hospice and St Helens Parish Church have teamed up with St Helens Council to bring the event and a day of entertainment back to Church Square for an 11am start.

The dash got the backing of some super-fit Santas this week too as Saints’ Jordan Turner and Paul Wellens jumped into their red and white suits at Langtree Park for a final promotional push to attract entrants.

Anyone who would like to join the festive fun can register at the Parish Church from 9.30am onwards.

Adult Santas will receive a free Santa suit, plus a mince pie to help them refuel.

Children will receive a Santa hat, medal and a free ride on the Church Square big wheel, courtesy of Ponts Amusements.

The Steve Prescott Foundation will also have a stall so shoppers can purchase SPF Memorabilia along with a copy of the late Steve Prescott’s autobiography One in a Million.

There is also festive entertainment throughout the day, including young musicians Tom Loughlin, Kieran Rigby and Aimee Critchley alongside Haydock Youth Brass Band, Christmas Belles Stilts Duo & Remote Controlled Santa.
