A ST HELENS man has been charged with murder after a 25-year-old man died following an alleged hit-and-run in Liverpool.
Michael Haigh, of Lower Hall Street, St Helens, is accused of killing Ryan Kennedy of Norris Green.
Mr Kennedy died after he was in collision with a 4x4 vehicle in Gable View, Liverpool at 2.15pm, on Saturday, November 1.
Haigh, who has connections to Rainford, was due to appear at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
He was charged last night by police.
Robert Jansen, Senior Crown Prosecutor with Mersey-Cheshire Crown Prosecution Service said: “I have authorised Merseyside Police to charge Michael Haigh of Lower Hall Street, St Helens with murder.
“The charge follows the death of 25-year-old Ryan Kennedy in Norris Green in Liverpool on Saturday, 1 November.
“Mr Kennedy had been hit by a 4x4 type vehicle in Gable View in the area at 2.15pm. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries but unfortunately died shortly afterwards.
“Mr Haigh will appear before Liverpool Magistrates Court today, Tuesday, November 11.
“Mr Haigh has the right to a fair trial. It is very important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”
