A LOCOMOTIVE that has strong connections with Newton-le-Willows will make a nostalgic return.
One of the main attractions at the Newton Show this year will be a steam loco Vulcan made at the Vulcan Foundry.
It left the town 30 years ago and the owners of the newly refurbished engine are hoping locals may be able to help relate its history.
During the 1980s it was at Vulcan Sports Club and on August 2 it will return by low loader to the show in Mesnes Park where it will be fired-up.
The owners are hoping to meet and speak to anyone who remembers the loco or used to work at the foundry so they can piece together and would love to know what coulour it ought to be!
The loco will be going to the Ribble Valley Heritage Railway and the Mesnes Park show may be the last time it will be seen on 'home ground'.
Newton Show will include bands, a rally car demonstration, birds of prey in flight plus classic cars, rides and amusements.
