THE MET Office has issued a red warning urging people to take care as winds are expected to reach up to 100mph in parts of the North West.
The winds are expected to batter the region throughout the afternoon and into the night. The Met Office has warned that gales of this strength can cause structural damage and bring down trees.
Large waves are likely to affect some coasts. People are being asked to alter their travel arrangements if possible.
St Helens Council said they will inform residents of any changes to its services caused by the weather.
