Here are the 12 finalists in the Miss St Helens Star 2013, sponsored by beauty firm Renaissance.
This popular competition was brought back to life as part of the St Helens Star’s 40th anniversary celebrations.
Over the years the Star has been contacted by readers asking for a revival of the former Miss St Helens Show Queen, which was popular many years ago and formed part of the St Helens Show.
Now after we started out with 35 local ladies competing for the title, 12 will take their places in the final tomorrow evening, Friday, at The Function Room, North Road, St Helens.
Zoe Donoghue, promotions and events manager for Newsquest North West, which is the parent company of the St Helens Star, said: “I have been with the company for 23 years and as a teenager used to work on the Miss St Helens Show Queen, as it was then.
“After chatting with both Karen at Renaissance along with Bev and Martin at The Function Room, the wheels began to role and Miss St Helens Star was launched.
“The winner will represent the St Helens Star, so it was important for us to get the mix in the final just right.
“It’s not a beauty pageant, and our ladies will be judged on their personality and their presentation.
“I would like to personally thank Renaissance, The Function Room, Matt Philips Entertainment, Leisuretec UK Ltd and our prize sponsors.
“Without their support the event would simply not be possible.”
Hosted by Pete Pinnington, the evening will raise funds for Willowbrook Hospice. Entertainment will be provided by Soul Sensation Matt Philips.
