YOURS Truly will be dumped in the backroom with my laptop and projector, and will put together a 30 minute show of old photos which will repeat every 30 minutes.

I will have a different show for each day. Yes. I am giving the DVD footage a rest, and I plan to show all photos that you may not have seen before.

Margaret will be doing her own displays on various local history themes.
She will be doing the Town Hall fire and the King and Queens visit, both 1913.T

The current Town Hall opened in 1876. On 9th June 1913 a fire destroyed a wooden steeple on top of the clock tower. It has never been replaced.

The fire is thought to have been caused by a workman, probably helping to get things ready for the Royal Visit by King George V and Queen Mary, who came the following month.

She is also arranging an exhibit in memory of Les Corns entitled ‘St Helens Recs’, and Daglish’s Foundry, if there is room.

Regular Margaret Hayward of the Queens Park Local History Group is also displaying.

St Helens Historical Society are running their second hand book sale, usually history books, and also Historical Society publications.

Shining Lights group, active regarding Sutton Manor Colliery and the Dream, will be there to answer your questions.

The World of Glass are joining us for the first time.

Friends of the Cemetery, The Citadel, Eccleston Smithy, and the Sankey Canal Restoration Society, will also be there to display items of interest.
On the Friday, at 11am, our new Mayor Andy Bowden will also be paying a visit.

IF you are a member of a Community Group and would like to bring a group of members along, give me a bell in advance and I will try to arrange a guide to accompany your group.
