I have many fond memories of Pat. Especially when we worked together as councillors for Thatto Heath. Pat was an inspiration to work with, particularly in education, environment and planning. Her knowledge and understanding was outstanding. I always appreciated that about Pat. Prior to becoming a councillor, Pat volunteered to teach people with their reading and writing, both children and adults in our community. I am deeply proud of when I worked with Pat to make sure that we had a mining monument here in St Helens. Pat raised the funds and set up a competition to design the monument. This is ‘The Landings’ right in the heart of our town. Perhaps the biggest pride and joy for Pat was the mayor’s parlour renovation. She made an incredible effort and it is still a wonderful sight. Pat was proud of the history of St Helens. She knew it, she understood it, and she made it. May she rest in peace.
