Coronation Street The Tour launches its final Summer at the former filming site with the introduction of Royal Mail postal collections from the Corrie postbox.

In what once served as a fictional prop for the Street for more than 50 years, the postbox is now celebrating a daily collection of visitor mail – including hundreds of postcards, which have gone on sale ahead of the holiday season – for the Tour’s final six month run.

In a nod to memories of yesteryear the Tour is now championing the postcard revival with thousands expected to receive the official limited edition Weatherfield watermark and “wish you were here” greetings from senders who are visiting the Street this Summer.

Jean Blackmore, a visitor to the Tour on a day trip, said: “Being able to send post from Coronation Street brings the whole experience to life. The Tour has been amazing and now we’ve just been able to top it all off with a postcard right here from Weatherfield to the grandchildren.”

Barry Lowe, also visiting the attraction, added: “There’s something so special about this Street – I’d like to think the postcards we’ve just sent out to family will become a precious keepsake, especially with the Weatherfield stamp on it.”

Barry also confessed: “I have even sent one to myself – you never know, it might be worth something in a few years!”

Just last month operators Continuum Attractions confirmed Coronation Street The Tour will close for good at the end of the year and tickets have become rapidly sought after with limited availability for the Summer months and weekends.
