ONE of the most child-friendly pantos — and also one of the least expensive — is back in Sale.

The Players of Sale will present Jack and the Incredible Beanstalk — another unique musical piece by Players’ member, Arnold Ashbrook.

When Jack’s mother cannot pay the rent, Jack has to to sell their only cow, Ethel.

The back end of the cow is played by director Rosie Parry, who took over at short notice.

After meeting a wicked witch, Grizelda, and her evil Gremlins, the not-so-bright Jack is tricked into selling the cow for four magic beans. Jack’s mum is furious and throws them on to the garden.

One of the beans grows into a huge beanstalk with enormous consequences for Jack and his friends.

Several characters climb it and, eventually, there is a safe landing and a happy ending.

There’ll be lots of chances for the children to join in and have fun.

• Jack and the incredible Beanstalk is at St Francis Church Hall from Thursday, November 29, to Friday, November 30, both at 7.30pm with a matinee at 2 pm on Saturday, December 1.
